Malaysiakini is seeking student volunteers during the 14th general election. Volunteers will help journalists in the news coverage of the electoral and campaign processes in their respective hometowns or districts.

In doing so, volunteers will be helping the public make informed choices by witnessing and documenting the electoral and campaign processes first-hand. This experience will benefit students of various disciplines, including communications, politics, economics, law and human rights.

Applicants should
fulfil the following
requirements:

  • Possess a commitment to report facts objectively
  • Be enrolled in an institution of higher learning
  • Be able to work long hours
  • Be able to work throughout the campaign period
  • Possess a vehicle license
  • Possess personal accident insurance
  • Agree to sign a liability disclaimer

Volunteer will be paid a modest stipend to cover food expenses and other costs.

All applicants will be subject to a selection process. Selected applicants will be required to attend a briefing session in the Klang Valley, and possibly other locations, on a later date.
